Exquisite Balloons, one of the first full-scale balloon decorating companies in the Washington-Baltimore area, was founded in 1985 by Susan and Joey Yaffe, a mother and son team. The company grew steadily over the years on its reputation for creativity, reliability, honesty, flexibility and extraordinary results.

The founders of Exquisite Balloons have been active in the growth and maintenance of professionalism in the special events industry for more than 20 years. The Yaffes were founding members of the first chapter of the International Special Events Society (ISES), which started in Washington, DC and now covers the globe. They have been members of ISES and many other industry assocations for many years. The company has won many awards, including the "Special Events" Magazine Gala Award for "Balloon Creation of the Year" and the ISES "Best Balloon Decor" and "Best Special Event Partnering" Awards. The founders were among the first people in the world to qualify as Certified Balloon Artists (CBA), as have two other members of the staff. Susan and Joey have been contributors to many Balloon Industry publications and have taught many other balloon professionals at national training conferences, as well as students in the George Washington University Event Management Program, the first university-based degreed event management program in the world.

The company is also a good corporate citizen. Each year Exquisite Balloons donates its service and expertise to many charitable events and institutions.

In response to customer needs and requests over the years, Exquisite Balloons has added other functions to make it easier for customers to receive more complete service for their special event. In addition to its expertise in event design and balloon decor, the company has an extensive inventory of centerpieces and props for rental, a full art department and relationships with other special event professionals to give customers a single source for all their event decor needs.
